Our structural prowess comprises European, Spanish, French and some Indian and Oriental blends. Therefore, we are definitely brick and mortar, stone, cement, skyscrapers and single-unit buildings. With this information, are we not dispelling some myths about Jamaica as the perfect vacation spot?

You can experience natural waterfalls, which are breathtakingly exceptional. Ideal for thrill seekers to zipline, cliff dive, and the miles of rivers, there is rafting on bamboo rafts. The experience is similar to riding in a gondola through the maze of forestry and wildlife, being one with nature.

The question and answer are: Would there be a need if the market was not here? The answer is no. So consequently, the market is here, so the product is available. Once on the island, go sightseeing in groups, drink less when out and never go into dark areas at night. Ensure the tours are part of the package for your stay. Only venture off-property if you let someone know. Should you need to leave the property, have a hotel staff direct you to the best local transportation. And while out, take special care to know your surroundings. Dress un=provocatively, and walk around in a businesslike manner, always looking as though you are safe. If lost, find the nearest business and get help from the security officer there.

As a Jamaican, I am biased toward my country. We have many natural resources but need the vision to tap into the avenues to monetize them. The best of us is sometimes the worst if we cannot see beyond what we believe when uninformed. The vision I have for Jamaica is; we are not Third World. I wouldn’t say I like the classification, yet there it is. 

Tourism and the economy is one way we must grow financially as a country. So, like other First World countries, they had to start somewhere. However, we are evolving, and one day, I hope soon, as Jamaica is the perfect vacation spot, we will also be perfectly financially viable. 

Our vibrant nature is enough for visitors to know as Jamaicans we consider this island not a myth about Jamaica as the perfect vacation spot.
